Mrs. Walling received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Southern California, an M. A. from Monterey Institute of International Studies, and holds a CLAD Credential. She serves as a docent at Point Sur State Historic Light Station in Big Sur, the Point Pinos Lighthouse in Pacific Grove, and as a guide at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. She produced the Big Sur Kindergarten Calendar for ten years to raise library book money for the school; and produced Captain Cooper's yearbook, The Captain, for its first seven years. As part of a three-year Technology Mentorship for Carmel Unified School District, she initiated and continues to coordinate this web site. Mrs. Walling was a California Semi-Finalist for the NASA Teacher in Space Program, and continues to enjoy an interest in space-related topics. She is a recipient of the Lighthouse for Literacy Award from the Monterey County Reading Association, and the Teacher Recognition Award for Excellence in Environmental Education from the Rancho San Carlos Education Foundation. She has led teacher workshops in writing, photography, and computer-related topics. |

Mrs. Walling enjoys writing and photography,
reading and gardening -- and her kitty, Marmalade. She has published stories
for children and articles for adults in newspapers and magazines, and has
served as a reading and language arts consultant for several publishing companies.
